In 2014, Bitcoin Coffee was the only coffee shop in Central Europe that accepted cryptocurrencies exclusively. Ironically, running a coffee shop was not included in the original plan of the founders, but the need for a coffee shop was seen as an important social bridge between geeks and the general public. The intention was to offer the visitor to Paralelní Polis such great coffee that they would be willing to overcome their fear of cryptocurrencies.
Today, Bitcoin Coffee is a club café; its self-service bar serves mostly Paralelní Polis’ members and their guests, catering to most non-profit educational and commercial events, and is the first point of contact for newcomers.
