Are you a cryptocurencies newbie? Bitcoin (BTC) and litecoin (LTC) are virtual internet currencies. The best thing about them is that they are decentralized – they can’t be controlled, manipulated or forged by government, groups or individuals.
To use bitcoin and litecoin on regular basis, you need to have a bitcoin/litecoin wallet. You can get it in form of an app in your smartphone, or you can come to Bitcoin Coffee (a coffee bar within Paralelni Polis) and ask for a bitcoin or litecoin card.
HOW DO I GET THE BITCOIN/LITECOIN WALLET?
a) SMARTPHONE APP
We recommend you use Mycelium (Android, iOS), Copay (Android, iOS) or Blockchain app (Android, iOS) for bitcoin. For litecoin use for example: Loafwallet (iOS) or Coinomi (Android). Just follow the instructions for creating new wallet (and create a deposit!).
b) BITCOIN/LITECOIN PAPER CARD
You can also pay comfortably with our card which you can get in Bitcoin Coffee for free. There are two QR codes on the card. The bigger one of them (RECEIVE), next to the logo, is an address for receiving cryptocurrencies. To send them, you use the smaller – private – QR code (SEND) on the other side of the card. You will get a sticker each time you order a coffee and pay with your card – with six stickers you get one coffee for free!
USAGE INSTRUCTIONS: Make a deposit of your private key, for example by taking a photo of it. Protect your private key against thefts – show it only to trustworthy people and dealers. Don’t use the card for big amount of money.
HOW DO I GET CRYPTOCURRENCIES?
When you get the app or the card, you need to buy bitcoins/litecoins on it. The easiest way to receive bitcoins/litecoins is to use the bitcoin/litecoin ATM in Bitcoin Coffee or in Institute of Cryptoanarchy in 2nd floor.
Instructions: 1) choose a language and then click on BUY BITCOINS/LITECOINS. 2) Scan the QR code which you have in the app, on the card or on the paper wallet. 3) Insert money (the ATM can not change, which means when you insert 500 CZK it will take the whole amount) and click once again on BUY BITCOINS/LITECOINS. Within a few moments, you’ll have your bitcoins/litecoins. The ATM by General Bytes takes a commission, the current amout in % is displayed on the screen.
HOW DO I PAY WITH CRYPTOCURRENCIES?
You can pay with bitcoins/litecoins effortlessly all over the world – with minimum or even no fees! You can give it a try in our Bitcoin Coffee. When paying for a cup of delicious speciality coffee or one of our amazing cakes, we will show you the QR code. If using the app, just open your wallet and scan the QR code. Then, confirm the displayed amount – and that’s all you need to do! In case you have the paper card, we will scan the QR code ourselves and take the amount needed.
On www.coinmap.org, you will find another businesses where you can use your bitcoins or litecoins – only in Prague, there are more than 80 of them!

PS: HOW TO GET BITCOIN/LITECOIN OUTSIDE PARALELNÍ POLIS?
You can get bitcon easily outside Paralelní Polis: why not to try the bitcoin exchange sites (we recommend the Czech Coinmate.io), the exchange sites with fixed rates (e.g. Simplecoin.cz) or to buy/sell bitcoin through one of the news and tobacco stands of the Geco network.
